Smoothie: Peach-Melon

I’m on a smoothie kick ever since getting an awesome new blender–
Today’s smoothie:
- 1 yellow peach, with skin
- 1/2 of a small honeydew
- 1 pack of lemon flavoured organic yogurt
- 1/2″ vanilla bean, split down the center
- a squirt of honey
- a few splashes of orange juice
Yum!

Fruits and veggies!

Some of my friends had lately been extoling the virtues of signing up for a CSA (community supported agriculture) share.  Since I am seldom awake enough to make it to the farmer’s market on the weekends, I decided to jump on the bandwagon.  I got my first delivery today, and it’s awesome!  Here’s what was […]

OMG

A few weeks ago, I saw this recipe on Smitten Kitchen and knew that I had to make it.   1) I love butternut squash; 2) I love carmelized onions; 3) after the TWD one that I made, I love galettes.  What’s not to love?
I started by cooking the squash.  Next time I will take the […]

Beets and Oranges

(another not-so-great photo…)
While I’m updating the site, I might as well get out two at once!  I made this awesome beet salad the other day and it was so addictive–I was craving it all the time (it didn’t last long as a result).  So I figured I’d share the recipe here–

Pumpkin Lattes

Not one to rest on his laurels, Rob showered me with some additional gifts over the last couple of weeks, further cementing his position as the best boyfriend ever!
The biggest of the gifts can be seen there in back, an Illy FrancisFrancis! X1 espresso machine.  He then supplemented it with the cute matching espresso mugs!  […]

This post has it all–hot alcoholic beverages, wonderful presents, cupcakes, and yarn, what more could you want? =)

Let’s get this party started with a toasty beverage. The other night, my throat was feeling sore. Rob suggested that I should have a hot buttered rum. I had never had one, but it sounded […]

This month’s Cupcake Hero was a bit of a strange one–Jalapeños.  If nothing else, it forced the contestants to be creative!  This was a hard one for me, because I don’t really like peppers.  But I gave it my best shot, and the cupcakes actually got really great reviews from my coworkers!
For those who aren’t […]

In preparation for my brother and sister in law’s visit the other week, I had gone a bit overboard at the farmer’s market buying fresh fruit.  I knew I’d have to use it all before it went bad, so I decided to take another shot at one of my favorite recent baking projects, the Summer […]

It’s a double dose of Dorie this week!  After my late entry for last week’s bake-along, we have this week’s submission–Blueberry Sour Cream Ice Cream, chosen by Dolores of Chronicles in Culinary Curiosity.  As always, the recipe was from Dorie Greenspan’s Baking, from My Home to Yours.
This was my first ever time making ice cream […]

Better late than never…

Last weekend, I didn’t have much time for baking–I was madly attempting to clean the house in preparation for Will and Jo’s visit.  Their visit has come and gone now (more on that later), so now I have time for baking again!  I decided to go ahead and make this week’s TWD recipe, a marbled […]
